National Team of the Year!

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

I am so sorry I have been remiss in blogging.  It is a busy spring and we have a NEW AWARD to be excited about.  Our very own Team 3 was chosen out of over 1000 teams in the country as the best in the nation.  Primarily based on what their customers have to say about them.  (To brag a little, we actually have 9 teams in the top 20 list)  I will let you read the press release, but I wanted to give a personal shout out of congrats to Team 3.  Also, thanks to our customers and all our teams who work so hard and care so much.  Thanks for making my job of “quality assurance” that much easier!

THE MAIDS Home Services Recognizes Austin, Texas, Cleaning Team as 2009 Team of the Year

OMAHA, NE — (DATE) — Team Three of THE MAIDS Home Services of Austin, Texas, was recognized as the inaugural 2009 Team of the Year at THE MAIDS Home Services National Convention this week in Omaha, Nebraska. The award honors the single four-person cleaning team that consistently displays exceptional quality, including dedication to providing outstanding service, building strong customer relationships and achieving continuous improvement.

This year’s Austin-based winning team is comprised of team leader Micaela Terrazas, assistant team leader Raquel Martinez, and team members Maura Santiago and Marilu Martinez. The team has consistently garnered customer satisfaction, cleanliness and high attentiveness scores, regularly placing the team at the top of THE MAIDS’ charts despite challenges that include serving a territory with some of Austin’s largest homes and one of the longest drive times from the franchise office.

“Team Three takes their customer concerns very seriously,” said John Gibbs, owner/operator of THE MAIDS Home Services of Austin. “Their performance has had a lot to do with our success, especially during the recession when cleaning services have had to work extra hard to maintain customers.”

Every other week, for example, Team Three members meet on their own time to discuss what their customers are saying – “the good, the bad, and the ugly,” Gibbs noted. “They know that every customer comment contains valuable clues that can be used to exceed customer expectations.”

Gibbs singled out team leader Terrazas for her contributions to the team’s success. “Micaela is one of the best trainers we have. She instills a positive attitude,” he said. “We see her treat new people with respect and they enjoy working with her. She has really helped new people grow and is a significant contributor to our excellent employee satisfaction.” In addition, Terrazas started to learn English in 2009 to improve communications with her customers, and now makes her own phone calls for cleaning reminders and arrival time changes.

THE MAIDS Home Services of Austin provides service to Austin and the surrounding communities of Bee Cave, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Hutto, Leander, Pflugerville, Rollingwood, Round Rock, Sun City, Sunset Valley, Volente and West Lake Hills, Texas. Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Hello!  Jeremy here again.  Have I mentioned lately that we like to have fun around here with each other?  I thought today went well with Sandys’ blog last week about team work.  I think these photos of the winters day here in Austin speak for themselves.  Enjoy and stay warm!

Training Fun

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Twice a year we like to offer training  to our people to offer opportunities to grow, with the end result of improved customer satisfaction, of course.  We know that there is no one  better to “wow” you than the people actually cleaning your home.  Well, we just had a great Saturday session focused on Customer Service and conflict resolution.  It’s not just customer concerns we want to be sure we’re handling properly, but employee concerns as well.  The whole concept of The Maids is that we’re a team.  And by being a team, we can excel.  After a good day’s training we needed to treat everyone with some fun and we went to Baby A’s.  So, going along with this months core value focus of “We are hard working, friendly and wiling to help each other”, here are some pics of the meeting and the team leaders working together for you to enjoy.  Have a great week!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Well, it’s easy coming up with ways to be Thankful this year. (I usually find it easy every year) For one, we didn’t have to increase our prices this year. Yeah! Two, we all worked together so well through our down turn this year we never had to lay anyone off. Yeah! Now, we’re back on the upswing, which leads me to number three. Our ladies have taken so much personal responsibility this year into taking care of their (our) customers, our customer satisfaction levels have risen faster than I anticipated. Of course, this makes my job much easier. So thanks for a great job ladies, I’m off to have a margarita!

Fall Fun

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

O.K.  This week I had to write because we just had our Fall Fest.  I’m Linda, HR for The Maids, and my first blog!  I like my job, but getting to throw a party is definately the more fun part.  We had such fun this year with the employees kids dressing up.  We had a bunch of games planned and gave away tons of cupcakes and gift cards for prizes.  And of course, pumpkin carving.  Hookem’ Horns!

Our people are the best!

Fall Pre Festival 2009

Friday, October 30th, 2009

It’s Halloween!  How fun!  Well, as I’m sure you’re aware, the economy has been rough on us for trying to plan things this year.  We are supposed to have a Fall Festival every year for our employees and families.  This summer, things were looking bleak in the budget for being able to provide a festival this year.  Well, our teams are cleaning even better, customer retention is growing and the staff has been working hard to save money, so how can we not have a party?  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s kids in costume and diving for the piñata filled with candy.

Did I mention the theme of our month is that we have fun?  We’ll we do have fun, and you can bet I’ll let you know how much fun we have this Halloween.  Well, back to decorating.  Happy Halloween!

It’s all about the teams

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Recently we received this comment from a customer: “It’s all about the teams.”  We believe that too.  In fact, it’s the second part of our vision.  Of course, we want to create the greatest customer experience in housecleaning, but we want to do that with the world’s greatest employees!  For a long time, we’ve had a train of progress to show everyone here how things were going and to display the wonderful feedback our customers give us to pass along to the teams.  We have been using that system to bonus our people and now, we want to make that even more obvious.  Congratulations to Linda for updating our train.  That “train” has been turned into a pot of gold.  We know as our people are making our customers happier and happier, that translates to a smooth ride.  Well, that ride is going smooth and now we’re turning customer comments and ratings into gems.  For years we’ve been giving our people extra dollars for extraordinary work, but now we’re celebrating that even more publically.  Thanks to our customers who leave that feedback because our people just eat that up.

It’s all about the teams.  Way to go!

Here's Patricia and her team excited about an actual Customer Comment: "Patricia has started calling us to let us know she's on her way. It really helps since we both work out of our home and want to be out of the way when you all arrive. We really appreciate her -- she has a cheery voice on eh phone, too. That matters." WAY TO GO PATRICIA!

We have fun

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Where’s the fun stuff on this blog anyway? Well, we had a spring party to celebrate all the hard work our ladies do for us and we have some pictures and video to share. This year’s party was bigger because they also broke some quality goals we had set our eyes on almost three years ago. We provided a steak dinner (plenty of veggies for the vegetarian) and a live Mariachi band. Well, I think everything turned out to be quite a hoot. Check these out.
